Station Module Builders WG

🎯 North Star 🎯

Run code on Stations worldwide. Initially with trusted Module builders, eventually trustless using Zinnia ().

Why?

Station is a deployment target for running code (Modules) on hardware offered by Station operators. Developing such a platform works best in close collaboration with those desiring to deploy to it.

Through this Working Group (WG), Station gets valuable feedback and validation, while developers can directly influence the shape of the platform and APIs provided. On top of this, participating developers get first-hand support and will be among the first to get to deploy to the network.

Trusted vs Untrusted Modules

In order to kickstart the platform, Trusted Modules will be accepted, until Zinnia is ready. Trusted means that the code will run on Station hardware without isolation, and therefore needs to be reviewed by the Station team.

Untrusted Modules will run on Zinnia, which on top of isolating Modules from hardware will provide useful APIs, like a libp2p instance. Modules running on Zinnia won’t need to be reviewed by the Station team, and can be deployed directly.
