Thank you, Jenny. I am excited about how much easier it is to store data on Filecoin now. However, storing data is only half the story.
The real magic happens when that data comes alive - when it’s instantly accessible, globally available, and economically sustainable to retrieve.
Data access in DePIN storage networks has historically been a challenge due to a lack of protocol-level incentives and service-level indicators that customers could trust. Additionally, retrieval performance was tied to the location and uptime of the node storing the data.
Today, we are launching Filecoin Beam - the data delivery layer for the decentralised web, with pay-per-byte billing and on-chain verifiability.
Beam makes every piece of data stored on Filecoin Onchain Cloud instantly retrievable from anywhere in the world, with Web2-grade performance and reliability.
For storage customers, Beam provides insights into the retrieval performance of individual storage providers, allowing the customers to make choices informed by data.
Finally, Beam pays storage providers for serving retrievals, changing data access from a cost sink into a sustainable business.
Looking ahead, we are implementing the x402 protocol. This emerging protocol enables users and AI agents to pay directly without subscriptions or intermediaries, and allows creators to monetise their content.
